Forecast Discussion:
There was in increase in PM10 levels to the Moderate AQI range on Friday as strong east/southeast winds were present and brought gusts near 35-45 mph for most of the day. The PM10 levels peaked Friday morning, but remained elevated until the late evening. Winds turned more typical Saturday afternoon.
Today, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon and could briefly increase PM10 as it reaches Miami. However, the real rain chances are forecasted to begin on Wednesday as an area of low pressure moves in from the Pacific Ocean. The potential for gusts would be best before more rain came on Wednesday, and this has been added to the hourly increases, and the highest daily PM10 will be on Wednesday as well. It is
forecasted that the rain will continue through Thursday. The additional rainfall is expected to limit new PM10 level increases. Drier conditions are expected to return Friday with lower daily PM10 levels as well.
