Forecast Discussion:
Last Friday was windy and dusty, and the winds were significant to cause high PM10 (dust) levels at the Nogales monitor throughout the morning. The Air Quality Index stayed in the Moderate category, though.
Fortunately, PM10 levels remained relatively low over the weekend and have been low so far this morning. However, PM2.5 (smoke) have been a little elevated in the mornings, thanks to the cooler temperatures.
Looking ahead, more active weather is coming down the pipe this week. More breezes and rain are in the forecast, with the window for rain chances looking to be later Wednesday into Thursday. Rainfall up to an an inch may be possible. And at least for now, winds aren't looking to be as potent as they were last week, which will mean a smaller potential for dust. Rain will quickly stamp out any remaining dust chances, too.
For now, PM10 and PM2.5 are forecast in the Good AQI category each day.
