Forecast Discussion:
A weak weather disturbance will track across northwest Mexico today into Friday. This feature, in addition to an increase in atmospheric humidity from the east, will lead to isolated to scattered afternoon thunderstorms over southeast (and east-central) AZ today and Thursday followed by a decline Friday. Rainfall will tend to spotty but gusty winds will be more common. The approach of a larger weather system moving into the Western states over the weekend will lead to southwesterly breezy to windy conditions in the late afternoons and early evenings Friday through Sunday.
Daily average PM10 is expected to be in the low Moderate today (aided by some gusty winds from distant thunderstorms) then dip to the Good range Friday through Sunday aided by a decrease in commercial activity. Of note, there may be a short lived period of elevated hourly values late Sunday afternoon with the stronger gusts but this is not expected to be high enough to push the daily average out of the Good range.
