Forecast Discussion:
Last Friday was windy and dusty, and the winds were significant to cause PM10 (dust) to exceed the federal health standard at every monitor in the Tucson area. The Air Quality Index was also able to reach the Unhealthy (red) category.
Fortunately however, rain followed the dust, helping to maintain low PM10 levels over the weekend, particularly Sunday. And so far this morning, PM10 levels have been running pretty low around Tucson. PM2.5 (smoke) levels are also low.
Looking ahead, more active weather is coming down the pipe this week. More breezes and rain are in the forecast, with the window for rain chances looking to be later Wednesday into Thursday. Rainfall over an inch may be possible in areas. And at least for now, winds aren't looking to be as potent as they were last week, which will mean a smaller potential for dust. Rain will quickly stamp out any remaining dust chances, too.
For now, all pollutants are forecast in the Good AQI category each day.
