Forecast Discussion:
A weak weather disturbance will track across northwest Mexico today into Friday. This feature, in addition to an increase in atmospheric humidity from the east, will lead to isolated to scattered afternoon thunderstorms over southeast (and east-central) AZ today and Thursday followed by a decline Friday. Rainfall will tend to spotty but gusty winds will be more common. The approach of a larger weather system moving into the Western states over the weekend will lead to southwesterly breezy to windy conditions in the afternoons and early evenings Friday through Sunday.
Peak 8 hour Ozone is expected to be well into the Moderate range today followed by a gradual decrease with values anticipated to be near the Good threshold by Sunday.
Daily average Particulates are expected to remain in the Good range. Of note, thunderstorm related winds may briefly kick up some pockets of blowing dust near construction sites and vacant lots. But that is not anticipated to be enough to push the daily average out of the Good range.
