Site Summary:
Muggins Mountain is a former open burning/open detonation (OBOD) and disposal site located south of the YPG KOFA range. The site is 390 acres and consists of three areas: the peripheral area, the Burial Trench Area, and the former-OBOD units. The permittee was directed to install an onsite groundwater monitoring well downgradient of the site. As a result of the investigations conducted to date, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued a formal determination that there is a high probability that munitions and explosives of concern (MEC) remain in place as the site.
This hazardous waste site is also listed as a Federal Department of Defense (DOD) Site on My Community | View Federal Department of Defense (DOD) Sites Page >
Corrective Action:
• RCRA Facility Investigation (RFI) report completed August 2014
• Interim measures including surface clearance sufficient to permit the installation of an onsite groundwater monitoring well – report submitted April 2018
