On March 20, 2026, the comment period begins for the proposed Nonpoint Source Pollution: Remediation of Abandoned Hardrock Mines Impacting Streams, Rivers, and Lakes rulemaking. The comment period ends May 1, 2026.

These rules will codify a standardized process for remediating nonpoint source (NPS) pollution from abandoned hardrock mines. Our focus will be abandoned mines that are impacting or threatening Arizona's surface waters. Please note these rules will only apply when state funds or funds we administer are utilized for abandoned mine pollution remediation.
