• An ADEQ Preliminary Investigation (PI) report identified soil impacts with a distinct slag profile in several areas near the Minerals Research Inc. (MRI) slag pile, including the VFW property immediately north of the MRI slag processing operation. A related Arizona Department of Health Services consultation, dated March 19, 2026, evaluated potential environmental exposures near the MRI facility and recommended measures to reduce dust exposures to people living or recreating on the VFW property | View PI Report >
• MRI submitted an application to enter the VFW property into the VRP on July 21, 2026.
• The site was accepted into the VRP on Aug. 7, 2026.
• MRI is preparing a work plan to reduce dust exposure at the VFW property. MRI is expected to submit the work plan to the VRP for review in early October 2026.
