Location

The Luke Air Force Base (LAFB) is located at North Litchfield Road and West Glendale Ave, Glendale, Maricopa County. The Air Force Base’s main address is 14185 Falcon St, Luke AFB, AZ 85309.

Contaminants of Concern (COCs)

Soil | PFAS, petroleum, solvents

There is little to no health risk unless there is contact with skin or ingestion of contaminated soil.

Groundwater | PFAS, petroleum, solvents

If you are connected to a Public Water System (PWS) there is little to no risk of impact from exceedances because the water is filtered through the PWS for residential and business use | View Drinking Water Notices >

If you have a private well in the vicinity of the exceedance, we encourage you to test the well water.

PFAS sites (Luke Air Force Base and Gila Bend Air Field) 

• Preliminary Assessment completed in 2015

• Site Inspection completed in 2019

• Site Inspection Addendum 02 (private wells) completed in 2023

• Site Inspection Addendum 01 (municipal wells) completed in 2024

Long-term Monitoring Sites

• Explanations of Significant Differences were completed in 2022 for RW002-Low Level Radioactive Waste Burial Pit and SS042-

Bulk Fuels Storage Area

• The 5th Five Year Review was completed in 2023

Status

Luke Air Force Base is currently in the Remedial Investigation phase for PFAS and is continuing field and reporting efforts. This site is subject to programmatic five year reviews for various long-term monitoring sites and the next review will be conducted in 2027.
