smoke_map

Overview

The Sycamore Fire, 15 miles north of Globe, is currently estimated at 9,036 acres. Yesterday, smoke from the fire moved to the east, reaching the Arizona/New Mexico border. With hot and dry conditions today, the fire is expected to continue to be active.

Smoke Synopsis

Today, smoke from the Sycamore Fire is expected to disperse generally to the east. Similar to yesterday, smoke will move over highway 60. Smoke could also reach the ground in locations downwind of the fire. However, the amount of smoke will depend on how active the fire is today. Smoke will move over locations in Fort Apache Reservation and areas such as Alpine and Springerville.

Overnight, smoke will settle into local drainages around the fire and drain towards Roosevelt Lake, with light to moderate impacts possible.

Tomorrow, any smoke that has settled into low-lying areas will lift out by 10am. During the day, smoke will disperse to the east-southeast.
